Leo Award-winning composer duo Jacqueline Perriam & Erik Abbink of Oak Bay Studios have signed with Different Direction Management for representation.
Canadian-based composing team Jacqueline Perriam and Erik Abbink are known for crafting emotionally compelling, story-driven scores for documentaries, dramas, thrillers, romantic comedies, and romance films for film and television. Their collaborative approach focuses on enhancing narrative, pacing, and emotional authenticity, creating music that becomes an integral part of the storytelling experience.
Their growing list of credits includes the dramatic series Blue Skies, Netflix's A Vineyard Christmas, Lifetime's To Catch a Cheater and Woman with the Red Lipstick starring Rebecca Liddiard (Fargo), Bonds Will Be Broken starring Greyston Holt (The Night Agent), the documentary series Ageless Gardens, Hallmark's Nelly Knows Mysteries: A Fatal Engagement and Private Princess Christmas starring Erica Durance (Smallville) and Ali Skovbye (Ginny & Georgia); and Return to Sender starring Tanis Dolman (Voicemails for Isabelle).
Before transitioning into film and television scoring, Jacqueline built an accomplished career as a soloist and chamber musician in both the Netherlands and Canada. Classically trained, she holds a degree in Piano Performance from the Amsterdam Conservatory, consistently recognized among the world's leading music and performing arts institutions. Jacqueline holds citizenships in Canada and the U.K.
Erik Abbink earned his doctoral-level training as a saxophonist at the University of British Columbia. His passion lies in creating distinctive musical identities for every project, seamlessly blending intimate sound design and synthesizers with the power of a full symphony orchestra to elevate each story. Erik also served as an Artist in Residence at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, one of the world's most respected arts and cultural institutions. Erik holds citizenships in Canada and the Netherlands.
Together, Jacqueline and Erik are proud members of the Screen Composers Guild of Canada.
Their music has reached audiences worldwide through projects for Netflix, Hallmark, Lifetime, Paramount+, TF1 (France), Channel 5 (U.K.), and numerous international broadcasters and streaming platforms.
In 2022, Jacqueline and Erik received the Leo Award for Best Musical Score in a Documentary Series for Visionary Gardeners. The Leo Awards are British Columbia's premier celebration of excellence in film and television, recognizing the industry's finest creative achievements.
Away from their computer monitors they like to enjoy exploring BC's Gulf Islands, camping, and spending time outdoors. Jacqueline and Erik have two teenage sons who are both immersed in music: Anthony, an emerging producer of hip hop/plugg music, and Tristan, a rising classical cellist. They also have two mischievous cats named Nelly and Ludo.
