Emmy-nominated composer and conductor, Ceiri Torjussen, has signed with Different Direction Management for representation.
Ceiri Torjussen (pronounced kay-ree) is a Welsh-born, Los Angeles-based composer whose emotionally charged, genre-defying scores move effortlessly between sweeping orchestral writing, sophisticated electronics and experimental sound design. With more than 100 film and television credits spanning Netflix, HBO, Amazon, CNN, Nat Geo, BBC, Discovery and the major film studios, Torjussen has established himself as a uniquely versatile voice in contemporary screen music. The Los Angeles Times has described his work as “a sudden bolt of creative lightning.”
Torjussen’s music is shaped by an unusually broad range of influences. Classically trained from an early age, he draws from many influences, such as jazz, funk, electronic music, Indonesian gamelan and North Indian classical music, creating scores that can be both deeply melodic and sonically adventurous. His musical curiosity has taken him far beyond the concert hall and recording studio—including a seven-month period teaching in the Himalayan mountains and extensive travels throughout India, experiences that profoundly expanded his musical vocabulary and continue to inform his work.
Torjussen began his Hollywood career as an orchestrator and additional composer, working closely with Academy Award-nominated composer Marco Beltrami on a remarkable slate of films including Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Blade II, Hellboy, Hitman: Agent 47, Repo Men, Live Free or Die Hard and Underworld: Evolution. That formative experience gave Torjussen an invaluable foundation in large-scale cinematic scoring before he transitioned fully into composing original scores.
Since then, his work has encompassed an extraordinary range of genres and formats. His recent credits include two seasons of the acclaimed Netflix drama series Delhi Crime, Warner Bros. Discovery / MAX documentary Tom Daley: 1.6 Seconds, the Discovery+/HBO Max documentary about the celebrated British Olympic diver. He’s also scored two feature films for acclaimed Danish filmmaker Ole Bornedal: the dark supernatural thriller Nightwatch: Demons Are Forever and co-scored the acclaimed Netflix feature The Bombardment.
His television work further demonstrates his ability to reinvent his musical language from project to project. For A&E’s long-running true-crime series Cold Case Files, Torjussen created a haunting new main title and underscore, while Blumhouse’s Into the Dark: Crawlers called for a retro, synth-driven approach to its alien-invasion story. Alongside composer Jongnic Bontemps, he co-scored CNN’s critically acclaimed docuseries The People vs. The Klan, chronicling the extraordinary true story of a mother whose civil lawsuit helped dismantle the Ku Klux Klan.
Torjussen’s film work extends from atmospheric psychological horror to unabashedly fun genre filmmaking. His score for the cult horror film The Canal pushed into unsettling experimental territory, while his music for the award-winning drama Test, which premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival and won Best Feature at Outfest, employed a moody, immersive ambient-electronic palette. At the opposite end of the spectrum, his score for Syfy’s Big Ass Spider! embraces the spirit of classic 1950s monster movies, combining full orchestral writing with a hard-rock edge.
Beyond film and television, Torjussen is an accomplished composer of concert and experimental music, a parallel career he has pursued since his youth. His concert works have been commissioned and performed by world-classs organizations as the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, the Vale of Glamorgan Festival, Henry Mancini Institute & the Orchestre National de Bretagne to name a few.
